If your planning to do the walk starting from the Northen end (Whananui), and finishing in the Southern end (Onepoto) you would book this run from Onepoto to Whananui on your first day.
Onepoto
Turn right out of the driveway from the Holiday Park/Visitors Centre onto the main road. After a 15min drive you will come to the “Onepoto Road” sign, follow the road for 300 metres and you will see the start of the walk on your right. The carpark area is just next to the shelter, and you will see a road heading straight down to the boat ramp. There is a water taxi sign at the beginning of this road, and another down at the boat ramp. The boat ramp is the water taxi pick up/drop off spot.
Whananui
We can not get our boat into Hopuruahine Landing due to low water levels. The closest point we do is Whananui, which just means you miss out on 1.5 hours/5kms of the walk. Whananui is about a 2.5 hour walk to Waiharuru.
